Club Hub Update – February 2016

Wasn’t Preseason Training a great introduction to what is shaping up to a very exciting 2016 season! Huge shout out to Jon Tubb for lending his knowledge and enthusiasm to get our members re-acquainted with exercise and ready for Grading.

With 1st week of grading done, there are two more to go. This process aims to ensure that each team has the best combinations and are nominated for a division that is just right for the skill mix.  If you are not able to attend, please let someone on the committee know so graders are aware you are not WD_New Uniforms_Graceavailable.

How good do the new uniforms look, modeled by the gorgeous Gracie? Orders are about to be submitted shortly. If you were not able to making it to the 1st Grading for the fittings, please get in touch with Uniform Officer Extraordinaire Belinda Sims uniforms@westerndevils.com.au and she can take your order. Prices are $45 for Dress, $35 for Polo and $65 Jacket.

We also have a supply of rigid ankle tape at $7 per roll. On Saturday’s the on-site physios will tape you up for free if you have your own tape!  If there is sufficient interest, we can also look at getting Rock Tape in club colours as well (email to contact Vicky Dunford, Equipment Officer Supreme-o at admin@westerndevils.com.au).

New players/Transferring players

If you are a new player you will need to create an account and register. If you are transferring from another club please don’t hesitate to email registrar@westerndevils.com.au or phone Club Registrar  and she will assist you with the transfer process.

Existing players

You will have received an e-mail with your log in details. If you have played for any other clubs you will need to make sure that Western Devils is selected as your primary club. If you have any issues please contact Club Registrar, registrar@westerndevils.com.au

Preseason & Grading

All registered players are able to participate in our preseason training with PT Jon Tubb from Next Gen commencing Wednesday 3rd February (time and venue information to be provided shortly).

Grading will commence in conjunction with preseason training from Wednesday 24th February 2016.

Individual or Team Nominations

If you are wanting to put in a team nomination of 8-9 players, please choose Yes in the Registration process and email registrar@westerndevils.com.au with your team list. Please note that you may be given an additional player depending on new registrations following the grading process.

If you do not wish to nominate as a team but have a preference of 3 people that you wish to play with, please note this in the registration process where applicable. We will endeavour to meet these requests as best we can.

Uniforms

Western Devils are in the process of finalising new dress designs that will be available shortly. Dresses will be $45 with the option of providing your own black shorts (only plain black permitted, no patterns or other colours). New dresses are mandatory for all Western Devils Players (Seniors, Juniors and Mods) Further information on uniforms will be available shortly on our Uniforms page.

Fees

Our fees are made up of a number of costs including Netball WA, WCNR, WDNA, City of Wanneroo, Club costs and End of Season Presentation Dinner. Open (18 years +) $285 Juniors (10-17 years) $230 and Modified (7-9 years) $180.  If you require more information on our fees please contact Club Registrar.

Fees must be paid in full by March 25th 2016. Please contact the club if you require more time to pay your fees as we are always happy to help.

Once you have completed the Online Registration you will receive an Invoice with payment instructions. Please note that Registration is not final until we have received your payment in full or have agreed a payment arrangement.

**PLEASE ALSO NOTE** Our fabulous fundraising event (BLINGO BINGO) is being held on Saturday 27th February at the Iluka Bowling Club. Great opportunity to catch up before the season starts with new and existing members. Bookings are essential, don’t miss out!

2016 Winter Registrations & Fees

Western Devils Netball Club are now accepting Expressions of Interest for new players, coaches and umpires for the 2016 Winter Netball Competition at Wanneroo Districts Netball Associations.

The 2016 Winter Netball Competition commences on Saturday 30th April 2016 at the outdoor courts at Kingsway Sporting Complex. Game times are:

  • NetSetGo 8:30am
  • Under 10 & Under 11 9:45am
  • Under 12 & high Division Under 15 11:15am
  • Under 18 & low Division Under 15 1:00pm
  • Open new times of 2:45pm and 4:15pm

Expression of interest can be emailed to registrar@westerndevils.com.au now and online registrations on MyNetball in January 2016 until 21st February 2016 before commencement of grading.

The Fees for 2016 are as followed are also due by the end of the registration period:

  • Mods (7-9 years) $180.00
  • Juniors (10-17 years) $230.00
  • Seniors (18+ years) $285.00

Fees include small increase to the NetballWA & WDNA affiliation fee, court hire for training, umpiring costs as well as the end of season presentation night.

2015 AGM – Updates and Outcomes

President’s Report – Big thank you to all committee and club members for another successful season; 5 teams made finals with 2 in the grand final and a best on ground in a losing team, three coaches successfully completed the introduction accreditation, Karen Jamieson was appointed TACT Assistant Coach for 2016 as well as successful implementation by Jo Esteban of the junior umpire mentoring program. Off the court we survived the first year of registrations under the new MyNetball system, with several impromptu Saturdays at the Carine & the Junior Movie Night & fundraising for Pink Day, as well as launching the new web site.

Fees – Final fees are yet to be set however it was agreed unanimously to keep fees as nearly as possible to 2015 plus $25 for the End of Year Presentation Function. This will enable us to book and plan now to celebrate the successes of 2016!  Final fees hopefully will be set at Forward Planning once WDNA have provided their details.

Uniform Change – It was proposed we move to the A Line dress for three reasons; rebrand the club, cost per unit is much cheaper than the bodysuit dresses and provides an opportunity for the Juniors to have the same uniform as the Seniors. This change was voted in (15 to 3) and now the committee with source a quality supplier and present designs for vote at Forward Planning Meeting at the end of November.

Registrations/Nominating Teams – Although the club has had a successful playing season, it was acknowledged that the decision for all players to be graded did cost the club members. Four options were considered; all players to grade, allow teams of 7-8 players to nominate or players can request other players they would like to be graded with or all of the above. The vote was 11 for a combination to 4 for full grading (proxies abstained).  All players/teams will be expected to participate in preseason/grading and the specific details of preseason/grading will be advised once registration fees and process has been finalised.

Other Business – Expressions of Interest – Coaching. The club is seek expressions of interest for coaches, apprentice coaches and coaching mentors for 2016.  More information about coach development will be provided after Forward Planning.

Western Devils Annual General Meeting

The AGM for the Western Devils Netball Club is scheduled for Sunday 1st November at 4pm at the club rooms of Kingsway netball courts.

Please do your best to make it. Important club decisions will be made at this meeting, so to have a say in how YOUR club runs it is important you attend. This goes for all senior players and junior parents – everyone is a part of this club and expected to help make it the best possible place.

If you are unable to make the AGM please fill out and return the proxy form. This proxy form allows a like minded person (of your choice) to vote on your behalf and ensures that your vote will still be counted in any decisions.

All committee positions will also be open for nomination. It is a great opportunity to get involved, give back to the club and make some new friends along the way!! It doesn’t take up too much of your time and ensures that we have a club that runs smoothly so we can all get on and keep playing the game we love! No experience needed – just a willingness to help out. It would be great to see more junior parents get involved with the committee next year as well, would be a great opportunity for us to meet more of you.

For anyone interested some of us will be going to The Kingsway afterwards for a drink and maybe some dinner – everyone is welcome to join!!
